Rough Magic is a spacious recording
environment with an inspired atmosphere. The studio space was designed by Engineer Chris Hartnett of Grey Ghost Acoustics, Lake Forest, IL, with the assistance of Engineer Brian Blank. The room is presently equipped for
unlimited overdubbing, with up to 16 inputs of recording at a time.
We have a great array of production tools, which you can read about in the
Equipment section.
We accommodate the full range of the Hudson Valley's great musical talent, any style, any age: full-size bands, smaller acoustic groups, solo artists, electronic musicians or MCs. We will engineer and/or co-produce any type of project, whether it's partial tracking or mixing for a
home project, a full song (single), multi-song demo, EP, full-length album or compilation. We also record audition CDs, voiceovers, audiobooks, and all other forms of audio presentation.
What you will get is a clear, high quality master CD, recorded and mixed to your full satisfaction.

Jon Stern is a producer/recording engineer/musician from Poughkeepsie, New York. He has played bass for over 14 years in several bands, including Perfect Thyroid, Manasoma, Spork, Avalon Grey & The Sunday Flies. Working with Jon in the studio, you will have a patient and efficient technician with the perspective, when desired, of a fellow musician/music-lover.
